Lunched by our church in 2014, the Unity in the Community Family Fun Day was born out of a desire to transform our neighborhood. At the time, we sought to replace an e of unease with one of hope, safety, and shared joy.
What began as a local gathering has grown into a high-profile annual highlight for Marksgate. Featuring bouncy castles, community football matches, and a vibrant array of cultural dishes, the day serves as a vital meeting point for residents, faith groups, and local partners.
For over a decade, this event has brought together up to 200 people each year, fostering deep social connections and a true "pride of place." We are proud to have hosted this celebration annually until our streets felt safe and comfortable once again, and we ctinue to celebrate the spirit of unity that makes our community home.

At the core of our church’s mission is a commitment to truly listening to our community. Through a dedicated engagement campaign, we sat down with local young people to hear their dreams. Their voices were clear: they were hungry for the arts, longing for spaces to dance, sing, and master new instruments.
In response to that call, our church proudly launched the Marksgate Music Festival in October 2021. It was a season of incredible energy, where over 100 children (ages 6–14) filled our spaces with the sounds of African drumming, DJ workshops, and dance.
Building on that foundation, we expanded our vision during the following Easter. By collaborating with Dagenham Eagles and High Voltage Performing Arts, we opened our doors even wider. We introduced workshops in brass, percussion, and vocal coaching, and had the joy of welcoming 200 children into our church community.
These milestones represent more than just common events; they are a testament to what happens when we invest in our youth. As we look back on these successes, we remain inspired and committed to carrying this harmony forward, ensuring the Marksgate Music Festival continues to be a beacon of creativity and connection for years to come.
